Frequently Asked Questions

What are the government office hours?

Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

When are water/sewer payments due?

Payments are due by the tenth (10th) of each month, but you have until the twentieth (20th) at 5:00 p.m. to pay without a penalty; after 5:00 p.m., your water service is disconnected and a thirty dollar ($30.00) reconnection fee shall be charged regardless of whether the water is actually turned off.  A twenty-four (24) hour dropbox is available for payments beside the Rose Hill Police Department entrance; however, if the payment is put in the dropbox after 5:00 p.m. on the twentieth (20th) include the $30.00 penalty or your service will still be disconnected.

What are the regulations in regard to building and zoning permits?

Any new construction or the placement of a new (or used) building on a lot requires a zoning permit.  If the use of a particular property changes, a zoning permit is required.  All zoning permits are issued at Town Hall after a zoning application has been submitted and reviewed.  Building permits are issued by the Duplin County Building Inspections Department in Kenansville, N.C. (910.296.2124).  Building permits are not issued until a zoning permit is issued by the Town of Rose Hill.
